MEET MELISSA

Growing up with early 20th century family homes that featured pressed metal, VJs, panelled ceilings and antiques instilled a love of the history of design, and a consequent appreciation of the liveability and charm of a modern aesthetic!

I love both decorative and original art pieces, the magic of colour (both calm neutrals and joyous bright hues), and the glory of fabrics! I love finding the right accent chair! I love turning a tired dysfunctional space into somewhere people thrive! People enjoying the process of designing a unique, beautiful and functional space collaboratively is exciting!

A Diploma in Interior Design has provided a comprehensive, theoretical underpinning to my passion for beautiful spaces. Over twenty five years as a volunteer tour guide at the QAGOMA has inspired a great understanding of and love for many forms of art, and introduced me to the art practices of Australian and International artists in many different fields. I bring this knowledge, expertise and connections with practicing artists to the design styling of interior spaces.

My design experience includes:

- Kitchen and bathroom renovations
- Styling contemporary apartments
- Renovating a 1919 Worker’s Cottage
- Space planning and styling a professional office space
- Advice on styling and decorating a new build coastal granny flat
- Redecorating main bedrooms and open plan living and dining areas.

The joy is in designing a solution that both gives pleasure and suits the purpose of the space.
